Touch Rugby

This week for touch we learned some basic skill.

First we learned how to plant the ball. Planting the ball is easy. First I need to take the touch and put the ball on the ground. After putting it on the ground I need to step over it so the other player can take the ball and pass it to the other player.

After we played a activity called bibs versus non-bibs. Five people from each team gets a ball. everyone with no ball needed to tag the people with a ball.

Then we played a game of defenders and attackers. There was one defender and two attackers. In this game the defenders needed to try and block the attackers from scoring a try.

The defenders and attackers game was amazing because I kept on scoring.

Division Maths Problems.

This week for maths we did division maths problems but we moved on to 3 groups. For example I had 12 beans and I shared them among 3 people so each person gets 4 beans.

First you need to write many objects you have.

Then you have to write who your sharing it with.

After that you have to write how many you and the person have.

The final step is to write the algorithm. For example 18 ➗ by 2 = 9.

Inquariy

Insulates are used to stop heat from moving place to place. A good insulator keeps heat from escaping from the materials.

There were different kinds of materials there were paper cups, plastic, glass, metal, polystyrene, and tin cans.

A good insulator keeps heat from escaping from the materials. A bad insulator is when the heat escapes from the materiel.

Polystyrene is the best materials out of both experiments because it keep everything cool and warm

L.I To practise experimental methods.

Te Reo Maori

This week for Maori we learnt how to say different kinds of Maori words.

First we got answered, 'He aha te ra?,' 'He aha te ra', and 'kei te pehea koe'

The first activity was list of Maori words to translate. After we showed our work we highlighted them blue to show that we got them right.

I enjoyed this activity because I learnt lots of new Maori words.

LI: to understand the meaning of different Te Reo Maori words.

First we learned how to tap the ball, catching and passing the ball.

After words we played passing drills to get better at committing to the ball and catching.

Our second session of touch rugby was amazing because we learnt lots of new skills.

Technology/Inquiry

This week for inquiry my group and I we were doing experiments.

We did this experiment to see how much water would be absorbed by sand, nappies, stones, paper towels, and cotton. The experiment my group did was seeing how much water stones could absorb.

First we needed to gather our materials to start the experiment. Next we measured 100mls of water into a beaker.

Then we poured the 100mls of water into a measuring container.

The results were it didn't absorb much of the water. We only found it absorbed about 4mls.

I enjoined this activity because I learnt lots of new stuff.

Formal and Informal Language

Formal is times when rules and politeness need to be followed, and informal is times when rules and politeness don't have to be followed.

Formal language is when someone uses appropriate language, for example "greetings" and "hello" is using formal language.

Informal language is when people strange words. For example "gonna", "sup" and other words that are abbreviations.

Sometimes formal situations are like informal. For example a meet at the park.

Informal and formal help people know when to use the correct language and use it in the right situation.

L.I To identify formal and informal language.

Te Reo Moari

This week for Te Reo Maori we learnt how to say different kinds of words in Maori.

The first activity I did was parts of the body. For example waist would be hope. This activity was difficult because there were lots of words that I haven't learnt.

Our other activity was matching stuff into the right place. For example hot would be wera and cold would be makariri. This activity was easy because there were lots of words I knew.

Our first session of te reo was amazing because I learnt lots of new words.

Division

Division is sharing objects among a number of groups. For example someone had 12 beans. Then the person shared them evenly to 4 people. Each person got 3 beans each.

The slide below shows division using counter.
