4 x tables

Multiplication is adding the same number over and over.

For example 4+4+4+4+4+4 is adding four six times so 6 x 4= 24.

The slide below shows the 4 times table.

Comment Thread

Today I decided to comment on Texas reading blog post. Thread means having a conversation.

My question was "what was your favourite part about the story?".

I enjoyed using open questions and close questions.

Cook Island Language Week

This week for Cook Island language week I did a activity.

For this topic we needed to pick one activity from a large list. I chose how to pronounce different kinds of food in Cook Island language.

It was hard to practice the words because that was my first time speaking Cook Island. After a few practises I really knew the words.

I also needed to record my self on screencastify pronouncing the words.

I really enjoyed learning Cook Island words.

Basic Facts Boxes

Today I have completed basic fact boxes. The aim of this challenge is that you need to answer quicker. I answered the equation in 3 minutes.

L.I To remember basic maths facts.

Swimming

Today for swimming we went to the Logan pools.

First skill I learnt was steam line kick. First you put your two hands at the back of your ear so it looks like a v. Then lie on your tummy and kick. But make sure your head is in the water. Also legs straight when kicking.

Second skill was backstroke kicking. First hold your kick board on your lap above your knees. Then lie on your back the legs straight and kick. Remember face in the water.

Third skill was dolphin dive. First lie on your tummy. Then lift your bum up and dive in the water \

L.I To learn water safety skills.

Reciprocal reading

Similarities and differences talk about what things are different and same.

The book Dippy Drippers is about messy eaters. The book space food is about a group of kids that learn about how to keep food from rotting in space.

Both The Dippy Drippers  and Space Food is that they are both fiction books and they both talk about food.

The differences about the two books is The Space Food gives information and The Dippy Drippers doesn't.

Similarities can help people find out what is the same and whats the difference.

Similes

Similes compare two thing using "like" "as...as".

When people use "as" that is using a adjective.
For the as example the bodybuilder is as strong as a gorilla.

When people use "like" that is using a verb.
For example "Spelman ran like the wind."

To see a example of similes look on this slide below.
